GREEN MANSIONS

Mike Pigott is a Pittsfield native who started releasing records when he was 14, making his money washing dishes at Jimmy's (solid Italian restaurant on west side of Pittsfield). He contacted Japanese punk bands saying he wanted to release their 7" in the U.S., they'd send him the masters and he'd get the vinyl pressed. Fast forward a dozen years and Mike is still releasing records, now under his Masstropicas label, including a 7" by Peruvians Los Chapillacs ("Cumbia Psicodélica") and his own 45RPM 12" collaboration with Peter Bonneman, GREEN MANSIONS.

The self-titled LP is a droning bit of tropical rhythms and shakes, with organ tones that cut like a blade (same organ sound as Suicide) and authentic Latin percussion over lazy drum machines and occasional guitar fuzz. Perfect sounds for perfect days - green grass, blue skies, 70 degrees and a slight breeze.
