FYOELK LIVE ON WMUA

Fyoelk, a.k.a. Johann and Hannah from Amsterdam, stopped into the WMUA studio recently to record a very special and interesting podcast for my fellow WMUA duder Gabriel of MYNDBLYNDRZ.

Johann performed solo at the Media Mansion recently (only photo I could muster below) and played with George Myers as Golden Mold Friday at The Elevens (above). Both sets were freakishly good, the former a bit more like the podcast than the latter, which was bursting with noise and static and overall loudness. According to Gabriel the WMUA set might see a cassette release sometime in the future.

Details on the set:

"Utilized: samples from a walkman with the tape that was left in it by the previous owner, a dusty SK-1 (you can hear the sample chirps), bubbles, contact mics, mbira, recorder, a corny 80's drumpad, coos, caws, crickets, and one of WMUA's empty CD-R canisters filled with water from our bubbler."
