Last time I mentioned Portland multi-instrumentalist Matt Carlson it was in the context of Golden Retriever, the duo of Carlson and Jonathan Sielaff. More specifically, I spoke on last year's Emergent Layer cassette on NNA Tapes, a killer piece of synthesizer stutter and cavernous clarinet. Carlson's 2012 starts off right with his debut vinyl release Particle Language, out now on Draft Records. M.K.
