Red Handed

Just picked up this CD from the radio station by four Minneapolis dude's I've heard of, Vampire Hands, which is actually a re-released combination of their Me & You Cherry Red and Cuz It's a Beach Funeral EPs, out on Modern Radio. The first EP is an interesting mix, sort of hinging on metallic Sonic Youth sounds and more lighthearted fare like Grizzly Bear or Surf City (whom people have just started talking about after I grabbed their EP fron the station a month and a half ago...). They really seem to like Can as well (they're mentioned in the press info & on their Myspace), but nothing here even comes close to Can's out-there-ness. Oh, and no songs go over three and a half minutes. They're also touring with Wavves on their upcoming Spring tour so watch out. Also their new record comes out sometime this Spring on St. Ives.

Take a peek at "Queen Juno," a chant-y track which doesn't appear on this reissue, and "No Fun," which does appear on the reissue, here (via RCRDLBL).
